The Trinity Old Scholars Cricket Club reached the end of an era at the club’s annual general meeting on July 15.

Adrian Zorich (right) has stepped down as club president after 11 seasons, with Brad Schaper taking on the role.

After 11 seasons in the role, Adrian Zorich stepped down as the TOSCC’s president.

Zorich’s time as the club’s leader has seen significant change.

His tenure saw the TOSers rise to ATCA’s A1 grade this season, following two consecutive promotions.

In all, the club won eight premierships (six A grade, two B grade), formed a C grade, contributed to the development of the Old Scholars Pavilion, introduced a women’s team and formed strong relationships with the Trinity College administration.

Most importantly, Zorich’s drive for success and professionalism has set the standard for the club that we have today.

After serving as secretary for three seasons, Brad Schaper will step into the role of president.

I want to acknowledge the massive role Adrian has played in developing this club. The foundations that he has put in place will stand us in good stead for many years to come. It goes without saying that I have big shoes to fill.

Brad Schaper, incoming TOSCC president

Schaper will be TOSCC’s third president, reflecting the stability that has been provided by Zorich’s leadership.

Zorich will stay on as club sponsorship co-ordinator and expects to play more games in 2019/20.

The 2019/20 AGM precedes the club’s first season in A1, the peak grade in the ATCA.

A new committee was formed:

Executive – Brad Schaper (president), Rob McLean (vice president), Jacob Snook (secretary), Mel Hardy (treasurer).

Other committee – Mitch Dearing (events manager), Austin Smith (fundraising), Rob McLean (media manager), Adrian Zorich (sponsorship), Liam Beazleigh (college liaison), Cam Fletcher (pavilion manager).

In further news, pre-season training will kick off at the Gawler River gymnasium on Monday, August 5, led by fitness co-ordinator Nathan Kennedy.

The club also announced premiership coach Ali Forwood will reign for another season, with Tim Viner-Smith his assistant.

The club will soon have news regarding recruits as we head towards what will be an exciting season.
