Wet weather hampered pitch preparations across Adelaide last week, meaning only our women’s team was able to get underway on the weekend.
And, it was only the late transfer of the women’s team’s match against Northern District to a hard wicket that allowed that contest to get underway.
The ladies battled hard to field a team and then came up against a bunch of talented Jets who put their stamp on the match.
In a weather-shortened contest, our girls were dismissed for 49 with Shannon Chomik top-scoring with 14.
In reply, Northerns passed the score without losing a wicket.
This weekend, the A and B grade sides will play limited-overs contests at Flinders Park and home, respectively, while the C grade play Grange at Gawler River. The women commence their mid-season break.
Meanwhile, in the previous round of matches, it’s worth noting that one of our players pulled off an exceptional double in the C grade – recording his best batting and bowling effort for the club all in one game.
Scott Lee, putting much younger blokes to shame (as always) took 6/30 (19th best bowling performance in the club’s history) and then hit 64 runs to bring the TOSers to within three runs of what appeared an unlikely victory after coming in at 6/47 in pursuit of 135.
