The Trinity Old Scholars Cricket Club’s A grade finished off its opening ATCA A2 match of the 2018/19 campaign in sizzling fashion, defeating Fulham by 154 runs.
Set 276 for victory, Fulham collapsed under the heat of a solid team bowling effort that was set off by returning player Jace O’Hara.
The Big O took 3/22 from 10.2 overs and his early inroads gave an opening for his team-mates to exploit, which they did to full effect.
Stef Lainas showed why he is always a welcome addition to the A grade side, taking an exceptional 3/16 from 13 overs, while Mitch Dearing took 2/21.
We batted again and Dearing (80) and Alex Cotter (36) made the most of it as we knocked up 3/150 from just 19 overs.
Disappointingly our B grade, who had high hopes of chasing down 162, lost their last seven wickets in rapid fashion to be dismissed for just 106.
Modbury had a second hit and clattered 7/167 from 36 overs.
The day’s highlight was probably skipper Grady Hudd taking his first wicket for the club.
Anyone who’s seen him bowl in the nets will know this is a remarkable achievement.
The C grade had a pretty good line-up for their first game in LO4, but expectations were not met, with the boys dismissed for just 136 by Gepps Cross.
The visitors nearly missed the win, losing eight wickets in pursuit.
Congrats to Jason Collyer and Joel Schories on their debuts for the club.
Saturday night saw our first big event of the season and it was definitely a night to remember.
Our next big event is our Poker Night, put November 17 in your diary.
