An outright win for the A grade, a Tim Viner-Smith century and Dave McGree’s bat provide the highlights of the latest round of ATCA for the TOSers.
Needing big points to aid its push for finals, the A grade completed its challenge with an outright victory over an underwhelming Pulteney.
We declared 67 runs ahead of Pulteney at the commencement of play and then set about knocking them over for just 137, to give ourselves a target of 70 for victory.
In Pulteney’s second dig, Jarryd Furnell took three wickets to add to his five in the first week Josh Southwell also took a trio of scalps.
Dan Elvin pumped out a 50 as we chased the target down, only to get run out with the scores level. Ali Forward ensured the win with a six.
In the B grade, Grady Hudd’s team secured victory with ease with Tim Viner-Smith smacking a century and receiving solid support from Liam Nottle – both of whom are welcome return additions to the fold this season.
We declared at 6/245 and Woodville South then made a better fist of it at the crease to be 3/135 at stumps.
The C grade saw probably the best side we’ve ever fielded in this grade and we won by 26 runs after setting 189 batting first.
Dave McGree’s bat produced some stunning hits, to see him score 69, before it gave out – the screws in the bottom of the blade certainly caused much conversation.
Kyle Presbury also hit 42.
In reply, Glenunga made 9/163 with Presbury taking 2/1 and being ripped off a hat-trick, while Ian Bryant also took two wickets.
The ladies celebrate after Mel Hardy collected a wicket against Payneham.
Meanwhile, on Sunday our ladies put up a good fight against a talented Payneham outfit, making 3/101 in pursuit of 6/125.
It’s great to see our ladies team starting to build a real core of players and it’d be fantastic to see more support for them each weekend.
