The hot conditions continued over the weekend, meaning only the TOS A grade took to the field, and it was a long day for the boys, losing deep in the day.
Golden Grove were chasing a decent score of 241 and set off with a determined opening partnership of 72, before Josh Southwell finally broke through.
Southwell again took a scalp soon after, but that did not precipitate the collapse the boys in the field wanted.
Mitch Dearing took a third wicket at 126, but it was a long time before more celebratory drinks were run out to the boys by Sean Docherty and Liam Nottle, who provided great support throughout the day.
A second Dearman wicket was the first of three to fall for four runs, with Jarryd Furnell dropping in for a brace to have Golden Grove 6/200 and a hope of victory stirred for the TOSers.
Furnell grabbed another wicket to have the home side 7/224 but the next wicket came too late, with Grove having passed the score.
Our spin star finished with 4/76 as Golden Grove ended the day on 8/249.
It was a loss hard to take for the lads but it’s hard to knock their efforts over the 80 overs in tough conditions.
In other club news, there will be meals in the Pav again this Thursday, with a Quiz Night coming up on February 21 set to be a big night for the club. Keep an eye on our Facebook for more information about that event and start organising your team.
Finally, we’re still looking for ladies to join our Women’s Team, if you’re interested or know someone, message us on Facebook or contact Adrian Zorich (0422 729 911).
Next: A grade v Pulteney (Waldeck), B grade v Woodville South (Ledger Reserve), C grade v Mawson Lakes (Gawler River), Women v Kensington (Col Waite Oval).
