As we head into the final weekend before the Christmas break, the TOSers are on top and firing in the A grade, while our C grade knocked up another win.
We travelled to Goodwood in the A grade and rock and rolled them for 148, with Josh Southwell taking 5/27.
In reply, we’re 2/83, with Alf Orwood in good touch on 47 not out, with also skipper Eythan Barraclough at the crease.
The B grade are chasing about 300 on Main Oval, but the skipper needs to get his butt into gear so we know who’s done what. Liam Beazley collected two Gaza wickets, I think.
Dylan Winning did something as well, or so he told me at the lunch break. While Liam Nottle was alarmed but not very alert to warnings prior to the game.
In the C grade, Athelstone made 6/114 from 40 overs with Scott Winkworth taking three wickets and angling for a call up…to the English team for the Ashes.
Dave McGree (59) and Matt Knox (43) were unbeaten as we won by nine wickets.
Unfortunately, heat saw the women’s semi-final cancelled on the weekend – the matches will be rescheduled for the new year.
Thanks so much to the ladies for their contribution to the first part of the season and we look forward to seeing you all again in January.
Finally, we’re having Christmas dinner this Thursday night at the Bradley Schaper Honorary Pavilion.
Bring your families along – you know it’s going to be a good feed and Austin Smith will be providing the entertainment.
This weekend: A grade – at Goodwood (second day), B grade – at Main Oval (second day), C grade – at Ingle Farm.
